Hello, I just finished reading His Woman His Wife His Widow by Janice Jones. I thought this book
was excellent. The story was a good example of what can happen in your life when you turn away
from God, and when you know better. This book sure made me realize what was going wrong in my own life. God will always be 1st in my life. God Bless!

    • jjones1966 says:

Hello Liz.. Wow. I am certainly happy that you enjoyed His Woman His Wife His Widow. I am even more excited that it has helped you to re-evaluate your priorties and realize that God is always first. There is now a sequel to His Woman His Wife His Widow entitled Lindsay’s Legacy. I pray you pick it up and find out what else Lindsay and her crew are up to.

Thank you again for your much appreciated support.

      Janice Jones

  2. Wanda Powell says:

My name is Wanda Powell and I am an avid reader. I stumbled across Christian fiction and I am hooked. I just can’t seem to get enough. I just finished reading the New Day Divas Series. Thank you E.N.Joy for just reiterating that someone testimony may help someone else come out of the fire. Never let the past dictate what the future holds. Kendra Norman Bellamy, I love you! I am anxiously awaiting your next book. Your books are awesome! There are not too many authors on this list that I have not read. I have not read one book yet that I have not enjoyed. Dijorn Moss, there are not too many men that write this genre, but The Retreat was awesome. Zaria Garrison, I am waiting for your next book. I read each of your books in 1/2 day each. Yes, I know I need to get a life. LOL! I could probably say something to most of the authors but I won’t. I will say thank you to all the authors, you keep me encouraged.

  3. Melissa Ruff says:

Hi my name is Melissa Ruff, I’m a active reader of African American Christian Fiction. I just finished “Right Package Wrong Baggage” it was a awesom read, I took me to places that made me examine myself and my judgement of people. It also made me question my belief in the power of god’s abilty to deliver his people from all bondage. We often think as Pamela did that homosexuality is the biggest sin in the world! We think that our dirt is so much more acceptable than that of a man or woman who has poured out there heart to the sae god and been set free. I admire this author for dealing with this issue and open our eyes using scripture.

  4. Patrice Pachai says:

I have always loved to read books but when I grew up I only started to read black authors. I started to read Christian fiction long ago but stopped. I rededicated my life last year and still wanted to continue to read books. I came upon His Grace, His Mercy by Keisha Dawn and loved it. So I continued to search for more Christian fiction books. The next one I read was Me, Myself and Him (can’t remember the author) and loved that one also. So, I continued to search. Unfortunately, I had to stop reading as I started my Masters program, which required a lot of reading but the next summer, I had time to read for pleasure again. I was in a store in Bermuda looking for a book. I picked up Couples Therapy by Michelle Larks. Again, I was surprised this book was Christian fiction. I started to read it and it challenged me to read my bible more because of the scriptures that were given in the book. This helped me to build my bible study time. After reading this book, I looked for others. Since Couples Therapy, I read Faith by Michelle Larks and Yesterday’s Promise by Vannesa Miller. I loved all these books and currently I am reading Trying to Stay Saved by E. N. Joy. I look forward to reading many more. Thanks to all the authors.

    • shelialipsey says:

Patrice, what a great testimony! Thank you for taking the time to let us know how our books have touched your life. It is my prayer that you will do well in your Masters Program! Keep in touch. Thank you, Patrice!

  5. Karen Gill says:

My name is Karen, I just finished reading Michelle Larks book, Couples Therapy. It was a great book, all the characters stories were very interesting. I hope there is a book II. It will be interesting to read more about Zora and Rev. Nixon relationship. The character Meesha had a very good story line. It would be an interesting to find out if she can rebuild her self-esteem after being rejected by her husband; will she find the courage to love again?

Many men of all races are like Edward. I wish they can see that their actions effect more than just them; but it hurts their wives, kids and other family members.

    • Maisha Williams says:

I just finsh Couples Therapy, I ended up reading it in a weekend. It was a slow start but once I got into it I could not put it down. I would love to see a Part 2 to flow up wit the couples and see what happens with the next group.

  6. Kim Armstrong says:

My name is Kim and I just finished reading Song of Solomon by Kendra Norman-Bellamy. I truly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading many more works by not only Kendra but other positive ethnic authors. I am glad tha this site was posted in the book. I enjoy literary works by African American authors and I will continue to support you all.

  7. Jessica Martinez says:

    Hi,

My name is Jessica and I just finished reading Vanessa Millers Latter Rain. I have read all the books in the rain series except for Rain Storm and the other one that comes along with this one. I had read two of the rain series books and when I discovered that there was a third one the library didn’t have I requested it. They got it for me within a month and then put it on hold for me. This was a great blessing. It’s great to see Isaac ministering to people out in the streets instead of in the church. That is where he belong. Sometimes there are more saved people in the church so sometimes we need to go and find these people that need Christ and change their lives by telling them about the love of Christ. Me and my boyfriend used to go out and hand out gospel tracts to people downtown in front of the library. Its also good that Isaac got back in touch with his father and forgave Mickey the drug dealer. I’m glad he got back with his wife and so he could be with his son Donovan. More men should be with be their baby’s mother. They should be married. That is how God created things to be. And it is great that he got all that money to start his ministry and that drug dealer agreed to go to church with him. Great job Vanessa! This book really inspires me to tell more people about Jesus.

  8. Shari Chavis says:

Shelia I just finished Beautiful Ugly. I love it. Will there be a series? I would love to see Envy get married to Leonard. Each chapter kept my full attention – never a dull moment.

    • shelialipsey says:

Hi, Shari, I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed Beautiful Ugly. First, let me also say ‘thank you’ for taking the time to read my work and also to support me. I am deeply grateful. And next, yes there IS a sequel to Beautiful Ugly. It is called True Beauty. It will hit bookshelves, ereaders, online stores and basically anywhere books are sold beginning DECEMBER 1, 2011, so mark your calendar. it will make a great Christmas present too.

  9. Diane says:

Sheila, I just finished reading your book, Into Each Life. Wow! That was great! It made me sad reading about Faith, But I was so glad to see Prodigal and Teary FINALLY get it together by the end! I read Sinsatiable first, liked this book as well! Am anxious to start on “my sons” series! But I have several Urban Christian titles sitting on my night stand to read first! I love them all! If I could sit and read for hours on end…thats what I would be doing!!!! In fact…where I work…when the boss leaves for lunch I whip out a book and read!!!! Thanks again for all the great stories!

    • shelialipsey says:

Thank you tons and tons for taking the time to write me and let me know how much you enjoyed Into Each Life. I hope you continue to follow my other books as well as the great books you will find on this site. May God bless your in all things great and small

  10. I love to read your books, I have read books from a number of Christian authors- just got through reading “Song of Solomon”- Kendra Norman Bellamy- I am a new author- my book “Textionary- The Texting Dictionary” came out in May, 2010- would love to speak with you to get pointers and info on marketing for my new work. Keep on inspiring us and may God continue to bless you.

  11. DIANE says:

I found out about urban christian after visiting the website for christianbookdistrbutors.com. Since then I hardly read anything else! Love these stories! I am a big fan of all the dialogue in books…makes them very easy to read! Feel like I am actually living in their lives. Very hard to put any book down when I am reading! No wonder I am so tired at work everyday! Too much late night reading!

    • E. N. Joy says:

Diane, have you read any other UC titles lately? If so, I hope you have enjoyed them. I hope you’re keepin’ up with the divas and indulging in my “New Day Divas” series, which has been coined The Soap Opera In Print. 14. Cynthia M.Wiggins says:

I have to say stumbling upon a book that gives insight to real life situations is wonderful. The book “Secrets and Lies”, written by Rhonda McKnight,is just wonderful. It is so hard to put this book down. I have often dreamed about writing my own book, I have even came up with a title, but I have not actual put the words on paper. I commend real writers for writing about real situations and how to overcome. Keep up the expert writing skills.

    • I just finished reading Secrets and Lies, I also think it is a wonderful story. I don’t often read this type of book. Mostly romance novels, but i have to say i will from now on read books written by Rhonda Mcknight and other authors such as Keshia Dawn, Leslie Sherrod and others listed on this web site.

  15. To the authors of these christian fictions. I have within the 2 years starting reading christian stories. I have read quite a few. I ‘m glad I came across these books in the library. The ones I have read are very inspiring, and keep your spirits up when you are feeling bad. Very uplifting. I will continue to read these books and refer them to others.

  16. Gregory Nolan says:

    Hello,
I was walking in the store and the title “Be careful what you pray for ” jumped out at me. I picked it up and read a little. I did not want to put it down. I purchased the book and read it in two days. I had to take it out of my office because I could not get any work done without trying to read more.
I have also read “Men’s Retreat”. Read it in two days. Loved the book. I felt like a little kid that had found the book that he has always been looking for.
I have browsed through the site and read some of the information on the other books. I can not wait to read them.
My wife and I have formed our own book club and now that we have found this site, we have found plenty to read. I was going to purchase “Keeper of My soul”, but it is her turn to choose a book.
I just want to say thank you for the site and books. I will be sure and pass this information on to my church members. I am quite sure that they will enjoy the books.
Again thank you and God bless.

    • shelialipsey says:

I am glad that you enjoyed the book and I know you and your wife will enjoy all of the wonderful stories that UC has to offer. God Bless!

  17. I am a newly published author and would like to get my book involved and myself a part of the book club

  18. Sherri Hankins says:

First of all Happy New Year to all. I am new to reading Christian Fiction and I must say that I am “hooked”. I just finished reading Sherri L. Lewis “Selling My Soul” and what an excellent read. Looking forward to reading all – keep up the good work authors.

  19. Shay Williams says:

My sister gave me the book “Be Careful What You Pray For” by Nicole S. Rouse as a Christmas gift, and I just finished reading it. In one day I read the first 9 chapters; it was hard to put this book down, and what a great book it is, and the Reader’s Guide Questions are great conversation pieces for a book club! As a single Christian woman this book challenged, inspired, and made me want to examine my life – if I’m really trusting my singleness to God. I could empathize with all of Maya’s feelings and frustrations. Furthermore, I was encouraged to really “count the costs” before I make any relationship decisions, to not be so desperate to be in a relationship, and to listen to not only God but those people and things that He places in my life to warn me just as the main character Maya was warned. I’m looking forward to reading more UC books and especially more books written by Ms. Rouse.

  20. Kay Ronea says:

Ive been an avid reader my whole life and when I gave my life back to Christ, I was worried about what genre of books I would be reading now…I am so blessed to have come across Urban Christian books…I love reading about what God has done in these characters lives…Thank you:)

    • E. N. Joy says:

Hi, Kay, I just wanted to check in and find out if you are still enjoying the reads that Urban Christian is putting out. I used to write secular titles under the names Joylynn M. Jossel and JOY. When I gave my life back to Christ, I was worried about what genre of books I would write (LOL). I’m glad to say that my transition into Christian fiction has been a true blessing. Readers like yourself remind me that I made the right choice in being obedient. Stay blessed!

  21. Tashana M. says:

I just finished reading Nikita Lynette Nichols’ ” A Man’s Worth” and I cried, laughted, but through it al I couldn’t put the book down, well I did for a minute when I picked my Bible up. It is by far one of my favorites now. I started reading it earlier today and I wasn’t going to put it down until I was finished. Can’t wait to read the other work by the Author (I hope they are as good)….Good work Nikita..

  23. Shelley says:

I just finished reading Sherri Lewis’ “The List” this morning. What a great read! I loved the main character, Michelle. As someone who is currently going through the same things she is, I can definitely relate. I also loved all of Michelle’s sister friends, and her co-worker Jason, he sounds like a real catch! I learned a lot from this book, and hopefully I will be able to apply them to my own life and the same thing that happened to Michelle at the end of the book will happen to me! Thanks, Ms. Lewis, for such a great book!

  24. Donna says:

I have been reading some of the Urban Christian books over the past few months. started off by reading Vanessa Miller’s Rain series, and then the Storm series and I am getting ready to order the others she has published. I have past both series around in my office at work and everyone was hooked. I really enjoyed the books. I too am from Dayton, Ohio so reading some of the streets and scenes made me feel like I was back home. Vanessa’s books are so easy to read and keep you interested. I also have read all of Sherri Lewis books I started with “the List” and am passing those around my office now. Sherri’s books are an easy interesting read as well. I hope to see something new from her soon. I am excited about reading more from Vanessa Miller and sure I will be able to find another author out of the many listed from the UC Glory list. These books have renewed my interests in reading. Is there any chance some of the books will be released on audio? Thanks to Vanessa Miller and Sherri Lewis keep your ministry going through your writing.

    • shelialipsey says:

Donna, thank you for your kind and encouraging words. I am thrilled that you enjoy Vanessa and Sherri’s books. As for our books being made available through audio, at the present time they are not, but remember that nothing is impossible for God! I encourage you to continue to read Urban Christian titles. • Donna says:

      Becky,

You have got to read the rest of Ms Lewis’s books, they are all good. The List was so true for african american single women. Just finished My Soul Cries Out, but didn’t know I should have read that one before I read Selling my Soul, it was a sequel. nevertheless, even though I read them out of order they were both great books. Enjoy

I recently just rededicated myself to Christ and been learning alot about His eternal love. I figured since I am going to be a college freshman starting this fall, I needed God’s love to be with me and the choices I would have to face. I also love to read books and never knew about Urban Christian books until this summer. So far I’ve read 3 of them and is planning on finishing the rest. I love that I can still read books and learn about Christ and how other people overcame their problems through Him. I personally want to thank all of the Urban Christian authors for their wonderful gift of writing books, not only that but for the glory of God and helping christians keep their faith also.

    • Danyelle,

I read my first UC book and felt I needed to thank Michelle Larks for a great read in ‘Til Debt Do Us Part. The story had me laughing and crying and I could truly relate to the characters. After reading this book, I don’t want to read anything else that’s not Christian based. It had great story lines, it had many biblical references and it kept me glued to each page throughout the entire book. I started and finished within 24 hours. God bless all the UC authors. I’m genuinely excited to read more!!!

    • Teresa Beasley says:

      Maria,
If you loved the author’s book “Til Death Do Us Part” than you will love her book “Faith” it is inspirational and a true test of love and forgiveness. It was a page turner for me so I am sure you will enjoy it as well.

  37. Theunice says:

I have read “Faith,” “Forsaken”, “Forgiven, and ” Me, Myself, and Him”. I’m currently reading, “My Soul Cries Out,” “Keeping Misery Company,” “Through the Storm,” as well as several of your other titles and I love the plots. They are real and current and inspiring. The issue I would like to bring to your attention is that in every book I’ve read I have seen many errors. In one book a character’s name change after just a few pages, in all of them words are missing, or in the wrong order. I love the stories and will give you more of my business I just believe we should get better service. Whoever is in the editing department should be taking a closer look at the works you all are producing. God Bless you all and continue to get out great books.

    • Donna says:

Be sure to read Selling My Soul after you finish My Soul Cries out, it is the sequel. It is a very good book by Sherri Lewis. I’m ordering Forgiven soon. Did you read the Rain and Storm series by Vanessa Miller? they are all awesome but make sure you read the series in sequence.

  41. I love reading christian fiction and just read “A Woman’s Worth” by Nikita Lynnette Nichols in one day! This is an awesome novel that is well written and is very interesting! Loved it!

  42. Ryan Hampton says:

I just started reading Christian Fiction. I usually read secular novels. Didnt think I would get much from Chrtian Fiction books or it wouldnt have as much drama as other books. I just read the book by Sherri L. Lewis My Soul Cries Out. I bought the book a little over six months ago an never read it til the other day. I loved the book. It was awesome. It actually helped me in dealing with my own problems as I put myself in Kevin’s shoes. It’s like I was reading my life through a book soomeone else had wrote. It has helped me in my walk with Christ wether it be fiction or non-fiction against homosexuality. Thanks personally to the writer. May God continue to Bless You!

  43. Dorothy Browne says:

Thanks to Sherris L. Lewis for Dance into Destiny. What I love about this book is its compassionate recreation of the day to day existence of ordinary people become extraordinary by the love of God.

  44. Margaret Christian says:

Just finished reading “Talk to Me”. Beautiful love story without the fairy tale ending. I shows the complexities of a relationship even between those that are in love. Love doesn’t exempt us from disagreements and mistakes but it should be the link to be willing to work things out. Awesome book Pat!

    • Pat Simmons says:

Thank you Margaret for your accolades.
My brother, who is Deaf, was my inspiration behind Talk to Me.
There were so many messages I was trying to convey. I’m glad you were about to receive some of them.
      Be blessed!!
